Japan Airlines dump its partnership with American Airlines and its Oneworld alliance in favor of Delta and the SkyTeam group of carriers.American together with a private equity firm had offered to invest $1.4 billion in JAL and strengthen cooperation between the two airlines, but JAL judged an alliance with Delta -- the world's largest airline -- would produce greater benefits.The partnership with Delta will be officially announced by new JAL Chairman Kazuo Inamori on Monday. Jan 24, 2010. Seats that let passengers lie down are coming to the economy cabin. Air New Zealand says it will introduce this year coach seats that recline into an almost-flat bed for customers willing to pay extra.The carrier will install the seats in the first 11 rows of the economy cabin for three Boeing 777 planes scheduled to start delivery in November. They'll fly on the airline's longest routes, such as Los Angeles-Auckland, New Zealand.Each of the seats is equipped with a footrest that can be lifted for a reclining position. Legroom also increases by an inch, to 33 inches.Individual travelers can buy the seats, but Air New Zealand has designed them chiefly for families or adults traveling together. Dec 19, 2009‎. US Airways has announced a long-overdue upgrade to its international business class product. The airline says that it will introduce fully lie-flat beds in business class cabins beginning in December. The so-called Envoy Suite will offer chairs that convert to beds that are 20.5 inches wide (plus five more inches with the armrests down) and 76 to 80 inches long. The chairs will be arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration and will be equipped with a standard power outlet, a USB port and 12-inch monitors.

 


 

Dec 20, 2009‎. Cathay Pacific won the 'Best Airline - Business Class' award in the 20th Annual TTG Travel Awards Ceremony held last week in Bangkok. This is the second consecutive year that the airline has won the award under Best Business Class Airline category.

 


 

Dec 19, 2009‎. British Airways is defying the aviation gloom to launch a luxury, all-business class transatlantic service to New York from London City Airport. The upmarket service is BA's first ever to New York from the Docklands airport. The maiden flight is due to leave at 12.50pm. BA will use two specially configured A318 aircraft and use the BA001 flight number made famous by Concorde.
